In front of about 13,000 spectators who flocked to the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola, a 4-hour race full of adrenaline and twists and turns was staged, also thanks to the rain that began to fall from about halfway through the race.

Protagonists of the race were Davide Rigon in the Ferrari 296 LMGT3 of AF Corse together with Conrad Laursen and Charles-Henri Samani. After crossing the finish line in second position, the result of a fine comeback despite the difficult track conditions, a 10-second penalty imposed by the marshals after the checkered flag caused the number 51 crew to slip to fourth place just 6 tenths from the podium, chased by an infraction committed under FCY from the bronze.

Davide Rigon “I am very satisfied with my stint in which I managed to gain over 1 minute on the leader despite a wet track and slick tires by completing numerous overtakes. Unfortunately we then learned that we were under investigation as Samani, under FCY, held a speed of 81 km/h instead of 80 km/h as per the regulations. This cost us a 10″ penalty at the end of the race. However, we are still fourth in the championship just 7 points behind the top spot.

The next round of the hard-fought ELMS series is scheduled for Aug. 24 in Belgium with the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
