The second race of the FIA World Endurance Championship season at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola ended with a fifth place for Davide Rigon together with Flohr and Castellacci, best for the Ferrari 296 LMGT3 of Vista AF Corse.

The #54’s race had instead started uphill, with Thomas Flohr losing positions in the early stages of the race, finding himself struggling outside the points zone. Francesco Castellacci managed to get the car back into the top 10 at the end of the fourth hour of the race, before handing the wheel to Davide Rigon. The Ferrari factory driver racked up several overtaking moves as he climbed the leaderboard and crossed the finish line in fifth place, one lap behind the winning car. The championship standings now see the number 54 crew in eighth position with 16 points.

Davide Rigon, 296 LMGT3 #54: “We had some difficulties at the beginning, both during the stints of Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci, but the safety car brought us back into the race. Compared to the rivals we were forced to stop a few laps earlier and this penalised us, but in the final stages I managed to recover from eleventh to fifth position thanks also to a very good strategy agreed with the engineers, which led us to do a double stint on the tyres”.

The FIA WEC will be back on track from 8-10 May at the Spa-Francorchamps track, for a six-hour race.
