The Lusail International Circuit hosted the first round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Qatar 1812 KM.

At the end of 297 laps and nearly 10 Hours of racing (9h 56′) Davide Rigon, together with teammates Castellacci and Flohr, at the wheel of the number 55 Ferrari 296 LMGTE of the AF Corse team took fifth position.

In a race that started at 11:00 a.m. local time on Saturday when the air and asphalt temperatures were 20.6° and 31.9° respectively, which did not see the entry of the safety car Davide stood out thanks to his race pace that was unmatched, so much so that he was awarded as the best driver with the average race (World Best Everage Race) managing to recover, in his stints, numerous positions without committing the slightest error.

“I like the Lusai track very much, as also demonstrated by my race pace, which was very high. It was certainly not an easy race without some breaks and we all did a great job, from the team to my teammates. The level of the championship is very high and to receive this award made me very proud. I am very happy with my performance even if the regret of missing the podium remains. Now the home race, Imola, awaits me,” Davide Rigon commented.

The FIA WEC will return to the spotlight on April 21 at the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola with the 6 Hours, the second race of the season.
