IMSA | DAVIDE, SECOND PLACE IN UNITED STATES

1024 682 davide

Davide took second place at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen, the third round of the IMSA SportsCar Chmpionship – Endurance Cup. Paired with Brazilian Daniel Serra at the wheel of the number 62 Ferrari 296 GT3 of Risi Competizioni, he had to settle for second place on the podium in the GTD Pro class, thus equaling the result of 2022 (later concluded by winning the drivers’ title) in the classic endurance endurance race staged in New York State.

The American weekend had started with the second fastest time in free practice, subsequently winning the pole position. Serra took part in the first part of the race, dropping to second on the first lap, regaining the lead again around the second hour of the race, before being hit by a competitor, moments before the Brazilian driver was penalized for an improper entry into the pit lane that dropped him to ninth place.

At the checkered flag the Italo-Brazilian pair crossed the line just 1”364 behind the number 14 Lexus.

Davide “It was a very tight race as evidenced by the gap of just over a second after 6 Hours of competition. Unfortunately Daniel was hit by a McLaren that caused him a puncture, plus we were given a penalty for touching the “white line” that dropped us to ninth place. I was able to make up several positions, finishing as high as second despite a power steering problem. The safety car at the end took away our chance to attempt the final attack on Lexus, but the second place finish is definitely positive

The next event for the four Ferrari teams in IMSA will be the season-ending Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, scheduled for October 14, 2023.
